My guitar is crying because I cannot play it that well...
I'm not sure how I feel about what Paul Gilbert does to this song. He is a Beatles fan, so it was intended as an homage. I think overall, he is about as tasteless as possible, in a good way. I apologize to CB in advance.

That reminded me a little of that scene in Back to the Future when Marty McFly is doing Johnny B. Goode and everyone is like, "Cool" and then he just takes it a little too far and everyone is like, "Huh?"
He used that line as a starting point and went far beyond it. At the same time, this is what he does, stunt-guitar stuff. If you want fun, read the comments on youtube, people are either in love with his take on the song or they're horrified.
Haha. I wouldn't go as far as to say I was horrified. You set me up for much worse. They were actually pretty true. I'm joking when I say it was obnoxious. I'm not even a fan of the Eric Clapton work on that song. Either way, my favorite Beatles covers are the ones that take the song in a different direction, but still honor quality songmanship.
I really liked the song but the guitar was just a "tad" too...too.
In around 1994 I went to a concert that Mary J Blige and Jodeci headlined. I loved both of them and Jodeci was at the top of their game at the time. They had a great album out (it was their 2nd one) and those guys could sing. Their playlist was full of sexy ballads that made you mad that you went their with your friends and not some hottie you could make out with later. Biggie Smalls and Jr Mafia opened up the concert and everyone went nuts at their great performance, then we got to hear Mary J's set (which was awesome). Everyone was excited to hear Jodeci and they came out and did a few songs that got everyone ready to hear the rest of their performance - we coudn't wait to listen to them nail our favorite songs. The next thing you know, the music from those great songs are there but all you can hear is the wailing of four guys that spent over an hour just trying to out-sing each other with sounds that did not even resemble recognizable words. Then they berated Phoenix for not "getting" their music. I wanted to go onstage and punch them in the throat. Instead we joined the rest of the tens of thousands of fans in leaving early.
I am just saying that the guitar player reminded me of that.

Maybe my kids are gonna love it.
There's a fine line between talent and obnoxious.
