Journey was part of that last wave of 70's bands who could be successful without necessarily being photogenic. They were plenty poppy, but wrote some great songs. Yes, their videos were terrible, but this was also the beginning of the video era. If gassy doesn't like them, it is just too bad she has no taste.
Dio on the other hand is seriously handicapped by the subject matter of his lyrics. His bands have been pretty good. Here is a clip from Rainbow in 1977. If you want a really bad band, go back and watch Complete.

I love that Journey song but the video was nothing less than distracting. Were they actually playing "air" instruments (check out the keyboard player). The Dio clip reminded me of Spinal Tap.
Facts:
1. Rainbow is better that Sabath
2. Steve Perry is part Portuguese and thats why Jack has a hard on for him.
3. Randy Jackson, yes that Randy Jackson from AI, played bass for a while for Journey
4. Some day love will find you
5. Everyone who has ever owned, be a passenger in or walked by a Camero/Trans Am has heard Journey playing
6. Steve Tyler and Joe Perry's love child is not Steve Perry.
Consider these facts as they are. -VG

HOLD UP HOMER!!!! I said that Dio and Texas Swing bands suck. I by no means said that Journey sucked. They are not my fave but I do not hate them. Go hate on VG or CB or whoever else said that Journey sucks.
Oh, and Complete definitely wins hands down.
Journey blows. Hard. I'd rather be raped by Azis.
Poor VG, so bewildered by Journey hate that he has to resort to actual names on this blog. Uncool. Let's talk facts here kids:
1. Hate on Randy Jackson all you want, and American Idol is a boil on the ass of American culture, but the man is a damn good bass player and his performance credits speak for themselves.
2. If you were alert and aware in the 80's you heard Journey playing. Limiting it to driver/owners of GM F-series cars is like saying that only backwoods hillbillies living in their shanty have heard Hank Williams.
3. Rainbow was always less than the sum of their parts. Not good enough to be Deep Purple or Black Sabbath, they existed only to inspire the Tap.
4. Steve Perry may be part Portuguese, but he is all annoying.
Sorry for the name dropping. It was not on purpose.
